HASTINGS — Jensen Walsh delivered 6⅔ strong innings and Lincoln Southwest Cornhusker Heating & Air Post 500 collected 13 hits in a 7-1 victory over Gretna East Post 216 Saturday in Game 3 of the Nebraska American Legion Class A Juniors State Tournament at Duncan Field.

Gretna East took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Kyan Morlan walked, Cale Chilvers singled and Morlan scored on a Lincoln throwing error.

Lincoln Southwest responded with four runs in the bottom half. Drew Townsend tied the game with an RBI single before Truman Jackson added a run-scoring single. Ryker Tomlinson followed with a two-run single that gave Lincoln Southwest a 4-1 advantage.

Lincoln added a run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Townsend drove in Nash Noerrlinger with a fourth-inning single, Tomlinson brought Carson Lewis home with a sacrifice bunt in the fifth and Townsend added his third RBI with another run-scoring single in the sixth.

Gretna East’s best opportunity to cut into the deficit came after loading the bases with nobody out in the fifth. Walsh responded by recording a strikeout, flyout and popout to escape the inning without allowing a run.

Walsh scattered five hits, allowed one unearned run, walked three and struck out eight over 6⅔ innings to earn the win. Maddox Meyer recorded one out in the seventh before Walsh returned to retire the final two batters. Gavin Visser took the loss for Gretna East.

Townsend led Lincoln Southwest by going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Hudson Kelley finished 3-for-3 with a walk, Noerrlinger went 2-for-3 with a run and Tomlinson drove in three. Lewis recorded the game’s only extra-base hit with a fifth-inning double.

Morlan led Gretna East by going 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. Henry Naylon also finished 2-for-3.

Lincoln Southwest finished with seven runs on 13 hits and committed three errors. Gretna East recorded one run on six hits and committed five errors.
