HASTINGS — Kaleb Tysor collected a double and a triple and drove in three runs, while Chase Dean pitched a complete game as Bennington Post 266 defeated Papillion Post 32, 11-3, in six innings Monday morning in Game 10 of the Nebraska American Legion Class A Juniors State Tournament at Duncan Field.

Bennington broke open a scoreless game by sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs with two outs in the second inning. Brooks Blanchard started the scoring with an RBI double before Derek King delivered a two-run single. Dean added a two-run single, and Tysor capped the inning with a two-run double that made it 7-0.

Papillion answered in the third when Landon Roarty doubled and scored on Elliot Darling’s single. Bennington extended its lead to 9-1 in the fourth when Quinn Roberts scored on Tysor’s RBI triple and Tysor came home on Greg Kriegler’s groundout.

Papillion pulled within 9-3 in the fifth. Max Sullivan singled, Roarty walked and Cooper Winther drove both runners home with a two-out double. Bennington restored its eight-run advantage in the sixth when Tyler Meschede scored on a wild pitch and Roberts came home on Kriegler’s sacrifice fly.

Dean completed the victory by inducing a game-ending double play following Gavin Wolf’s sixth-inning single. He allowed three runs on five hits over six innings, walked two and struck out two. Aaron “AJ” Arens took the loss for Papillion.

Tysor went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, walk, one run and three RBIs. Meschede finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs, while Roberts went 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs. Dean was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and King went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.

Winther led Papillion by going 1-for-2 with a walk, double and two RBIs. Roarty doubled and walked, while Sullivan singled and scored. Darling added an RBI single.

Bennington finished with 11 runs, 14 hits and one error. Papillion recorded three runs and five hits while playing error-free defense.
