Hemry Drives in Four as Lincoln East Advances Past Hastings

HASTINGS — Braxton Hemry drove in four runs and Tyson Beach limited Hastings Johnson Imperial Homes Post 11 to one hit as the Lincoln East Duncan Aviation Jets Post 500 earned a 16-0 victory Monday in Game 9 of the Nebraska American Legion Class A Juniors State Tournament at Duncan Field.
Lincoln East took a 4-0 lead in the first. Hemry brought home Jace Wentworth with a sacrifice fly, Beach followed with an RBI triple, and Treu Larsen and Jake Gerdts each drove in a run.
The Jets broke the game open in the second. Hemry delivered an RBI single and later added a two-run double, while Landon Topolski contributed a two-run single. Shea Clanton and Elliot Dannewitz added RBI singles as Lincoln East sent 16 batters to the plate.
Hemry finished 2-for-2 with a double, one run and four RBIs. Topolski reached safely three times, scored three runs and drove in two, while Wentworth scored three times. Beach tripled, walked, scored twice and drove in a run.
Beach earned the victory after allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two. Quinn Simmons recorded Hastings’ hit with a leadoff single, and Charles Ratzlaff drew a walk. Luke Nollette took the loss.
Lincoln East finished with 16 runs, seven hits and no errors. Hastings recorded one hit and committed three errors.
